Nottingham Forest appoint Colin Calderwood as manager.

All this happened while I was at work, along with the fiasco at Charlton! Kinda annoyed that I missed all this happening but pleased that it is finally all sorted.

Quite happy with the choice, we can’t pick and choose at this level so for a League One club we’ve done quite well.

Hope that the transfers will start soon enough, what with us not having a (decent) keeper or owt!

Good luck Colin!!

Iain Dowie’s reign at Charlton got off to a crazy start, with an irate Simon Jordan issuing a writ against him for taking up the Charlton job. I personally don’t rate Dowie that much, least not as a premiership manager, so it’s all quite funny to sit and watch it all.

England beat Hungary 3-1 last night in what I think is the second to last warm-up game before the W/C starts next week. Didn’t manage to catch most of the game, apart from Lampard’s penalty miss, but did manage to see Peter Crouch’s crazy robot celebration on Sky this morning….

1992 vintage

I bought Sonic Mega Collection Plus for my PS2 the other day. It has oodles of Sonic games from both the Mega Drive and the Game Gear (though, bizarrely, not the Master System!).

I’d forgotten how much I loved playing the games when I was younger. We never had a Mega Drive, we had to borrow one from our next door neighbours. One of the few games on there was Sonic 2. Put the disc in the PS2 and before too long was humming along with excellent Emerald Hill Zone tune!

It’s a bit crappy that Sonic CD isn’t on this disc, but it’s fun being able to play these games again!

B’cause you’re so good!

England “B” lose against Belarus, despite the best young talent england has ever seen (quote – Arsene Wegner) playing the second half.

I really don’t hope everyone rests our hopes on young Theo, quite why Sven was so open to suggestions from the Arsenal manager is anyones guess. I still fail to see how a kid with his minimal experience would be a better bet than, say, Darren Bent?

I’d be surprised if McLaren didn’t shake things round, the same way that Sven himself did when he took over from Kevin Keegan.

The managerial merry-go-round is picking up a pace, so many clubs are now without managers, what with Notts County getting rid the other day. Martin O’Neill’s name had been bandied around various Forest fourms, but back page story of his apparent talks with Boro have led most Forest fans to wake up and stop dreaming!

Also in League One news, Barnsley got promoted earlier in the League One Playoff final. Well done to ‘em!

Nintendo DS Dilemma!

Damn you Nintendo for making such a fine handheld console!

I have had my eye on Animal Crossing for what seems like months, for reasons unknown I’ve still to have gone out and bought the damn game. But then game after game comes out that displaces it from the top of my list.

Metroid Prime Hunters looks the bollocks, I cannot deny. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones to have got the free demo with the DS – I joined the DS gravy train too late for that… But all reports and reviews I have seen seem favourable.

However…

NEW Super Mario Bros. is out next month. I’m almost wetting myself in anticipation. Every video I see of it on IGN has me aching for more. It is nice to see Nintendo have seen how Sega re-invented Sonic on the excellent Sonic Rush, and now have done the same to our favourtie moustachioed plumbers. I knew when I got the DS that it was destined for greatness! The DS does produce a duffer or two, but this game looks to be a milestone of the DS console.

Probably New SMB, Metroid then Animal Crossing….?

What does a cordless drill and the premiership have in common?

No Leeds!

Yes, joy of joys, Leeds lost the playoff final to Watford 3-0. Humiliated, they didn’t even come close. I can kinda forgive Watford for having Marlon King play for them if it means that Leeds “The club that deserves to be in the premiership” stay in the Championship just that little longer.

As a Forest fan, I have to take these moments of joy when I can, as they don’t happen often enough!
