Second Round boredom

Ukraine beat the Swiss 3-0 on penalties, after putting us through a dire, awful game. After Chelsea’s Schevchenko missed the first peno, I had horrible visions of this penalty shootout going on forever….

Luckily, the Ukraine managed to do what they hadn’t all night and got the ball in the back of the net.

As for the other second round game, Italy beat the Aussies 1-0 thanks to a penalty got in the very last minute of time. The penalty desicion was dubious, but I’m glad the Aussies are out now as we no longer have to suffer them, more so than normal.

The front page of todays Daily Mirror was pretty unsavoury, it had a picture of David Beckham being sick. Yuck.

England 1 - 0 Ecuador

David Beckham scores from an excellent free kick to send England into the quarter finals, with the captain deciding to throw up in celebration! In actual fact he had been feeling shite beforehand and obviously the heat didn’t help.

Wayne Rooney really shone in this game, he’s come on since the last game and is looking back to his best. Both Carrick and Lennon impressed when they came on, sadly Lennon only got about five minutes or so to impress, which is a shame as the lad needs about a half to show off his talents.

England still don’t look great, but I seem to remember Greece being boring in Euro 2004 and still winning the thing!

Big man is back!

Ronaldo scored two goals yesterday to make him joint top World Cup scorer of all time with Gerd Muller.

Brazil beat Japan 4-1 after initially going behind to a goal from Keiji Tamada. This result probably shows the rest of the team that Brazil are back on form, but let us remember, this is Japan…

In other news, Graham Poll manages to give a Croatian player THREE yellow cards without sending him off! I think it’s safe to say that Poll will probably not referee at another major tournament after this blunder.

I now have next week off, so am free to watch the knockout games in peace. Aaah!

2006/07

New fixtures day today! Forest start the season playing Bradford at home, with Blackpool away being the next game. Sadly, this is on a tuesday so may prevent any possible Forest jolly boys outings.

We have the other seaside towns (Brighton, Bournemouth) away in Winter, which is a bastard. We also may be the first team to play in Doncaster’s new stadium should it get finished on time!

The announcing of the fixtures is always a good day, as it means that the new football season isn’t that far away. I’m feeling more and more confident of this coming season as the weeks go on.

Who are they?

Forest get drawn against Accrington Stanley in the first round of the League Cup. Cue lots of milk/scouser related japery.

I could’ve predicted a tie like this, we were bound to get the Leagues new boys. Hoping that Colin’s new look team can batter em!
