Plugs

I got tired of my unreliable Wireless connection and bought these. The mains of the house is effectively used as a wired connection to the internet. It’s the only way I can get a stable connection to the internet on my laptop, without the constant signal drop out that was a feature of the Belkin ‘dongles’. It’s also in place for any future purchase of games consoles that need to be online, so it was quite a snip at £60 for the pair. :D

In other news, the above spending of said plugs may be a thing of the past as my debt still looms large. I’m saving money, but i’ve also got my eye on Christmas and my weekend in Paris in November. I wish I was more sensible with money!

My little friend

I watched Scarface for the first time today, what an excellent film! Tony Montana is the perfect anti-hero, it made for great Sunday lunchtime viewing. :D

I spent most of yesterday in West Bridgford and Keyworth, what with my uncle getting married. I took plenty of photos, but now find that I’ve lost the USB lead to transfer the photos across to my PC. Arses!

Decided that the blog was in need of a change of look, so I hand-picked this theme. Might take some getting used to. :)

And to finish, have a listen to this!

X-Rated

(The title especially for Google… ;))

I asked around upon buying my Xbox for the ‘must-have’ games that I needed to have with this console, and made a big long list.

Thanks to various second hand shops, Game and eBay - I’ve now got 14 games. Such delights as Halo 2, Burnout Revenge, Dead Or Alive Ultimate and Project Gotham Racing 2 - bought purely for the magical Geometry Wars. :D

Currys now have all their Xbox games in the bargain bin, with the 360 taking over its shelf space. I’m happy to have bought into an outgoing console, I only wish i’d done it before with consoles like the N64, Dreamcast. Although I suppose there isn’t anything to stop me as thanks to eBay i can pick up a SNES for only a tenner!

It’s my uncle’s wedding this weekend, which sees me putting my trusty DSLR to good use! I’ve had to hire a suit from Formal Affair and will most likely have to trim the beard. :(

Catastrophe! Calderwood Out! Etc!

Nottingham Forest only manage to draw against Carlisle! Are the wheels beginning to loosen on the promotion bandwagon? Probably not, but certain changes need to be made if the radio commentary is owt to go by and I trust CC to get us back on track for the top of the table clash against Tranmere next weekend, which sees Gareth Taylor return to the City Ground - probably to a chorus of booing.

In other football news, things certainly look grim for Kevin Blackwell. The Leeds boss is overseeing quite a few losses at Elland Road, which is a surprise for a manager of his stature, how on earth can a guy who ‘rebuilt the club from nothing’ fail like this? Somebody who learnt his trade from master tactician Neil Warnock is being found out as the rubbish manager that we’d always knew he was?

Well I never, this certainly is a shock… ;)

Waiting…

Nintendo are due to announce all details for the forthcoming release of their Wii console. They’ve already confirmed when the console will be released in both the US and Japan, and today is Europe’s turn.

It’s expected to be released soon after the US release, with the price for the console being low, but Nintendo catching you out by making you pay for extra controllers, high price games etc…

I’m not too fussed to be honest, as long as I have my Wii before Christmas, I don’t care.

Forest lost the other day to Oldham, playing not too dissimilar to how they’ve played before but being found out by a side who’d done their homework. Let’s hope that saturday’s visitors Carlisle are unprepared…

Also down at the City Ground, David Johnson finally calls it a day after struggling against back and knee injuries for most of last season. He’s still hanging around the club though, hoping to complete his coaching badges and, as our manager says, ‘mentoring Forest’s up and coming strikers’. Is that wise? :o

Having only had the opportunity to play on my new toy, the Xbox, a few times since I bought it, I think I understand why they were giving those particular games away with the console. “Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30″ is crap, “True Crime - New York City” is a cheapy GTA-clone and the two Tom Clancy games (Rainbow 6 and Splinter Cell) definitely require some hours to be put in so I last longer than 10 minutes before getting shot. :D

Need For Speed Underground is okay, but the obvious next step is searching out cheap 2nd hand copies of Dead Or Alive and Halo 2. 8)
