Busy…

Not been able to add much on here recently, but nonetheless here I am to talk crap once more. Work has got increasingly busier as the christmas period approaches, and it’s set to get even more crazy when December arrives. I’ve agreed to double my shift at RM, so will come away with shed loads of cash in time for Christmas.

Off to Paris in a week, deciding to take some time away from everything and relax a bit. Plus I plan to do all the touristy stuff when I get there, seeing as this is the first time I’ve been to the city!

Sadly, I had to sell my lenses the other week to pay off a few debts and fund various things (like the above trip ;)). The Nikon f/1.4 lens was a cracking little thing, quite sad to see it go but I got a decent price for it. Jessops don’t let you trade in used equipment anymore, and Cash Converters was a joke, so I sold them on ebay. First time I’ve used ebay to sell!

Nottingham Forest won away yet again, this time the three points coming from a game they were second best for the most part. Ah well, there’s no rule that you have to play well to win games, is there? :D The reds have also been drawn against Yeading the in the FA Cup first round. Here’s to another upset! :( :D

Trouble at the Top

Nottingham Forest beat Bristol City 1-0 today in a game marred by the visiting supporters trashing of a bar on Radcliffe Road.

Nicky Southall put the Reds in front, curling the ball in from a free kick and settling a few nerves in the City Ground.

It sounded like a decent end to end match (I can’t make Forest games, sadly!), with Forest really showing what they’re made of in front of the biggest crowd of the season. Agogo seemed to thrive on the service he was being given, with Commons also having a lively match.

The team got a standing ovation at half-time, just a bit different from the last game at the City Ground (4-0 thumping versus Scunthorpe) and it’d have been nice to see a few more goals in the second half to make this game comfortable, but unfortunately it was all Bristol after the break. We defended for our lives to protect the slender lead, with City trying and failing to break the defence down.

An excellent win for the Reds, it puts us five points ahead of 2nd placed Yeovil and sends out a message to the rest of the league - underestimate us at your peril! :D

Sadly, the after match incident at a bar on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford and at the Casa bar on Trent Bridge took the shine off a perfect day. We should’ve really second-guessed that some Bristol City fans were up here purely for a fight - and that’s how it turned out. The Amici bar on Radcliffe Road was trashed to bits by these morons, and it’s sad to still see this kind of thing in the game today.

Still, we won, we’re five points clear, but most importantly is Nathan Tyson and his recovery from injury. Once Tys is back in the team, we’ll be on fire!

Nottingham Forest and the Revenge Of The Pikeys

Revenge, my arse! They were almost as useless as they were on saturday - and we had half the team missing!

Yes, Forest beat Gillingham again. This time by two goals to one. It makes a change to actually win a game in a cup competition, and for our efforts we have been rewarded with a trip to well known local rivals Brentford in the second round.

It really is hard to get excited about this competition, so I won’t bother. :D

Nottingham Forest visit the Land Of The Pikeys Pt.1

Nottingham Forest put their abysmal 4-0 defeat at home to Scunny last week behind them as they sneak a win against Gillingham. It wasn’t really a one sided game and could’ve gone either way had it not been for the ref waving away a penalty claim from the Gills late on in the match. Nicky Southall scored the only goal of the game against his former side, and left all the celebrating to the other players. Good ol’ Nicky, suppose someone has to care about Gillingham. ;)

Middle of the week and we play the Gills again, another long trip to the Preistfield for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the renamed LDV. After last seasons debacle versus Woking, the league had decided that this years competition should not involve Conference teams, and that the competition should be split into different regions. Bizarrely, both ourselves and Notts County are in the South-Eastern section, despite being nowhere near Kent, or indeed Barnet as is the case for Notts.

Crappy geography aside, I don’t hold out much hope for any good to come from this cup match. We were shit against Accrington, we were plain awful in the cups last year so it’s odds on that we’ll go to Preistfield and lose heavily. But as long as we beat Brizzle City on the saturday, who cares? :D

Aside from the footy, I’ve helped erect a shed with my dad today. After the tragedy that was the fence we tried to put together many years ago, I had my doubts about trying our hands at more DIY. Thankfully, it was quite easy to put together and all was finished within the hour! Hurrah!

I’m also preparing for my weekend in Paris in three weeks, looking for tips on where to go, what to do and all that - and also the whereabouts of pubs and bars that are showing Sky Sports Soccer Saturday so I can keep up to date with the Forest score! :)
