A Photo Finish
Nottingham Forest beat Leyton Orient 3-1 which, after Bristol City’s 1-0 defeat against Milwall, leaves the reds with a real possibility of nicking automatic promotion on the last day of the season!
Bristol City are 2nd on 82 points, Forest 3rd on 81 and Blackpool 4th on 80 points. It means that either three of those teams could go on to claim second place if results go their way. As fucking fantastic as automatic promotion would be after these past couple of months, I think we’re still destined for the playoffs. As Bristol will SURELY not lose to already relegated Rotherham, will they?
New recruits to Leauge One this weekend, as Leeds finally make the drop down to our level. They drew 1-1 against Ipswich, meaning that bar a 10-0 demolition of Derby County next week, they’ll be the only ‘big club’ in Leauge One next year!
Southend also inevitably drop back into this leauge, after just a season and not much of a fight.
And in the race for promotion to the Premiership, the automatic places have been decided, with both Sunderland and Birmingham going up after Derby lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace. Derby now have to suffer the lottery of the playoffs, which will hopefully be a bit too much for them.
So it’s been a blinder of a weekend footie-wise. Hope we have a similar one next week!
(oh, and Big Sam Allardyce has left Bolton in the last few hours – no doubt Man City bound)
Mo’ money
I got Tomb Raider Legend and Just Cause – for a bargain price of just £35. The Tomb Raider game is good, more like the original games rather than the recent shambolic effort for the Ps2. Just Cause, on the other hand, is rubbish. It’s a very poor mans Grand Theft Auto, I could totally understand why it was only £15.
That’s it as far as spending extra cash goes. I’ve booked a week off and in August and I’m off to Bournemouth for four nights, so I need all the money I can get. I’ve canceled all direct debits, which means that I’m no longer part of the Hoofers gym. It’s just far too much money, I know of two gyms where £35 will get you three months use of the gym, rather than just the one month! I’d ideally like to cancel my phone contract and revert it to Pay As You Go, but that just won’t happen.
To change the subject, the new water feature in the Old Market Square is still not working. The fountains work okay, but the water-pool waterfall thingy is still broke. The council tell us that it’ll take up to a month to fix, but one month later and still nothing has been done. Sort it out, city council!!
ThreeSixtee
I completed Crackdown the other day, the first game I’ve completed in ages. In fact I can’t really remember completing a game…
It’s left me hungry for more 360 games. Problem is, the complete lack of them. Microsoft brought out a few new games to try to calm the PS3 storm, but games like Def Jam Icon, Brian Lara and TMNT don’t really appeal. I ended up in the CEX shop in Sheffield yesterday, with the second hand 360 section being laughably small, compared to the huge section for PS2 games.
I’ll keep looking, but maybe with Crackdown all it was doing was satisfying the need for Grand Theft Auto that still lurks long after getting bored with San Andreas?
Let’s Go Round Again
It’s been almost a year since I started blogging. One year!
I think this blog has been succesful, in as much as it is read – it could be totally ignored by everyone and anyone but the stats show that people do stop to read any ramblings. I’m quite happy that I’m still doing this a year on, and even more so that I’m doing it with the very proffesional looking WordPress, miles away from the basic look of my former home, Blogger.
As for the present, I’ve got a week off from work this week. Sadly the summer tempratures are to drop this coming week, so the shorts may have to stay in the wardrobe for a little while longer…
Iain’s birthday is coming up, and he and Carter are having a joint birthday dinner at Iguana’s in the Chapel Quarter. Never been there meself, and don’t really recall ever having had Mexican food, but I’m willing to try anything.
I’m considering leaving Hoofers and going elsewhere for my gym needs. It’s alright, has all the machines and so on, but it’s too expensive at £40 a month, especially when I know of other places offering the use of gym equipment a lot cheaper. I poked my head into the Royal Mail gym last week, just to check on what it looked like. I realised I’d been fooled into thinking it was a lot bigger, when in fact it was tiny – with mirrors everywhere to try and make it look larger. This has almost definetly put me off the RM gym.
And onto Forest, who ‘keep up the pressure’ on Bristol City with a startling comeback from 2-0 down to beat Brentford 4-2. I hope Calderwood doesn’t continue to claim that we can still go up automatically, as it just won’t happen. We best be making plans for the playoffs.
Spring Clean
Just thought this site could do with a change to bring in the summer, plus this newly selected theme lets me upload a photo to use as a header. Looks quite snazzy, it does!
