All Change Please

Christmas was a good day, but then it always is. Less about the presents and more about the day itself, the traditions you have and the people you have staying with you. And the dinner of course! It’s been a nice relaxing few days, only broken today by having to go to work. Not much of a surprise that there was work to do, as the postboxes have been given a few days to accumulate letters. Still, if anything is to get you out of the relaxed christmas state, it’s work.

I have no money this week, so a new year celebration other than one at home is out of the question. Certainly not anything like last years karaoke madness! I need to be more prudent with my money this coming year anyway, as 2008 was the year that i let debts get a wee bit out of control. Not bankruptcy inducing, but serious enough. I think i need to rid myself of the ‘want, want, want’ mindset that i’ve had for far too long.

Nottingham Forest give Colin Calderwood a questionable christmas present by sacking him. The sacking was deserved after an abject performance against relegation rivals Doncaster, but the timing couldn’t have been any less festive! I liked Colin, and wanted him to succeed, but this year the guy has looked increasingly out of his depth. Just when you feel the team has turned a corner, we put in a performance like yesterday. It’s no surprise that Colin got sacked, but more of a surprise that it took until the end of December for Forest to do so.

I’m not sure who i want as a new manager, a young unproven coach, or an old hand. The bookies seem certain that Billy Davies will be the next boss, but i’m still not sure it’s as simple as that. Nigel Doughty is reportedly not even in the country, so a quick appointment seems out of the question.

Listen to the Radio!

A long, long time ago (3 years) I recorded three radio shows.

Now i’m no famous DJ or anything, these were shows cobbled together with a cheap mic and various unrelated MP3’s for Nuxaq Radio, an interweb station created by Mr Gary Liddon. He set up the station so that any of the members of the YakYak forum could record a show and have it aired. In fact, the main reason I joined that particular forum was to get my show aired!

It ran for about six months or so, before interest waned and shows became more infrequent. Gaz still owns the domain name and the server (or whatever it is he uses) and radio shows still air from time to time – The Festive Fifty being one of them – when not airing anything new it plays old shows, including one of the three i recorded.

It was ok, i think i pulled it off. I hate the sound of my voice though, and recording voiceovers for the shows took ages as i re-recorded again and again to get it sounding less shit. Plus the tunes i picked were good, if i say so myself! ;)

I’m mentioning this now as Gaz has recently updated the Nuxaq website, he’s made it more easier to access, and certainly tons better for me to listen to the shows on my iPhone. Maybe even my own should i get bored?

It’s a shame that it isn’t running like it did back in those heady days in ‘05, as i reckon i could do a whole lot better now, but i’m content to sit back and bask in the ‘glory’ of my radio DJ ‘career’. :D

George Bush GIF Hilarity

You may have seen in the news a few days ago, that George Bush nearly got hit by some shoes thrown at him while he was visiting Iraq. Now, the original clip was funny, seeing him duck those two shoes with a big smile on his face made me laugh – but those crazy bastards over at B3ta have gone one better and created all manner of silly alternatives…

And finally, this one is genius! :D
