Go directly to jail
No such London hilarity this weekend, more of a return to the mundane. Although I’ve not long at work before the luxury of a week off – and a birthday to boot!
Decided to see how my iPhone likes being un-jailbroken. It’s not that there is anything wrong with the iPhone since I jailbroke it, far from it, I just wanted to make sure restoring it didnt create some ill effects. I’ve heard some horror stories from people who’ve had their iPhone bricked when they’ve tried to un-jailbreak!
Plus the latest firmware Apple have released seems to have sorted out one major problem. The iPod always forgot where it was when I was in the middle of a shuffle. I’d listen to music on the way to work, go on the Internet on the phone, actually do some work, then listen to music on the way home only to find I’d have to start from the beginning!
I’ve got the option of re-jaiIbreaking it, of course. I’ll see how it goes before I do anything rash.
Meet The Bulgars
Been to London again. Iain and Aleks are going to Bulgaria soon, and it’s the last chance to see them before they go (coincidentally on my birthday!) so we (me, mum and dad) went down today, where we were also offered the chance of tasting some fine Bulgarian cuisine. Aleks (being a Bulgarian, you see) had heard that a bar/restaurant a few miles away from them in Willesden was one of the few Bulgarian eateries in London that was worth a look.
Nothing could have prepared me for the crazy name by which this place was called though….

Bulgarians possibly not one for double entendres, Crazy Cock seemed to go unnoticed on a bleak North London street. These Londoners no doubt used to this funny named restaurant. I’d personally never tire of it!
Turns out that the food was good, even if the establishment wasn’t the nicest of places. I opted for a chicken on rice dish which i imagined to be some kebab style chicken pieces with rice, but instead was a weird risotto style dish with melted cheese on top, kind of similar to a moussaka. And the meat…well, it was chicken. Chicken liver. I hate liver. I tried my best to eat a few bits, but was a bit disappointed that something was lost in translation with the description of the meal, and cursing myself for not going for fail safe of the actual chicken kebab!
Nevertheless, it was great food. Chips with Bulgarian white cheese on were brilliant, as was the salad. Bulgarian food is similar to Greek food. Or at least the dishes that I tried were. I’d definitely try it again.
Just now I’ve finished watching Lost. I’ve not watched a single episode prior to today, but i was intrigued when a show about Lost was on while we were at Iain’s. The plot just seemed so fantastical that i thought I’d give it a go. I liked it, despite being a little bamboozled at some points.
Blah de Blah
Have finally got through my countless new DVD’s that I’ve either been given or bought over Christmas. Family Guy, Simpsons, Mitchell & Webb, etc… it’s taken weeks but I’ve watched them all.
It’s a little sad when the only thing i can think of as a Christmas present is a DVD. But what else is there to have? I could spend a small fortune in HMV anyway, so it’s all gone to good use!
I’m just after the money for my birthday (in 2 weeks) as i have certain ‘plans’ for that cash (!) – plus turning 26 is better to be a low key celebration.
I watched 1408 the other day, first horror film I’ve seen in a while. It’s a little freaky, but i thought it was quite good. Not as scary as I was lead to believe, and all the better for having watched it at lunchtime rather than before bed!
Makes for excellent reading…

Now, get Donny out of the bottom three and replace with Derby County and i’ll be happy!
