Wossy: The Fake Twitter Celeb Investigator
Twitter is the underground hit at the moment. It’s the website that all the cool kids visit, and i’m glad to report that i’ve been signed up to it for the past month or so. Partly due to a few celebs having also signed up too.
The great thing about Twitter is, is that it’s like Facebook but without all the bloody zombie/pirate bollocks. It’s all about the status updates. Not so great when it’s just down to you and your mates, but reading how Robert Llewellyn and Stephen Fry go on about their lives is oddly interesting. Stephen is well into his tech, and ‘Bobby’ is just an interesting bloke as it is.
Recently, a guy claiming to be Jonathon Ross signed up. On the internet, anyone can claim to be anyone else, so it could’ve been him or maybe not. Stephen Fry and Robert Llewellyn had both verified that it was indeed them ‘twittering’ as they’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but Wossy hadn’t.
The past week or so has seen quite a few ‘celebs’ signing up. Jeremy Clarkson, Jack Dee and Harry Enfield were all apparently on Twitter. But doubts were starting to be raised, and in midst of this not-so-clever fakery, was Wossy who he says he is?
Keen to put everyone’s mind at rest, Wossy posted a picture or two of himself in front of his computer screen, with Twitter on in the background. Conclusive proof then!

What with this being the actual Mr Ross, and with him having plenty of media connections, friends and whatnot, he set about investigating the fake celebs on Twitter. Finding out that Clarkson, Jack Dee and a few others were all fakers. Bobby Llewellyn also managed to uncover the fake Harry Enfield too.
In these times of Daily Mail hatred of anything Jonathon Ross related, predictably newspaper interest has gathered of his twittering, which has made the paper ‘outraged!’, but such is the interest in him even the Metro newspaper got in on the act and reported on his Fake Twitter Celeb Investigating!
Word got out the other day that on his first show back, he has Stephen Fry as a guest. I’d be very surprised if Twitter isn’t mentioned. Or indeed if they don’t twitter while on air! But reading how this ’shamed tv host’ gets on with the most mundane of lifes tasks is weirdly addictive….!
Away from Twitter is the news that soon-to-be President Obama is featured in the new Spiderman comic, apparently a fan of Spidey, he appears in a new strip set at his inauguration in a few weeks. How cool is that?

Go-Bama
Well done to the USA for not chickening out and for voting in Barack Obama. In my lifetime, i don’t recall seeing a more popular president. I can see how a lot of people how taken it upon themselves to believe that Obama is some kind of messiah, hence some of the more hysterical reactions to his election yesterday, but then the situation worldwide regarding the economy, job losses etc. is so hopeless it’s easier to understand why they’ve gone for Obama. I know I’d have voted for him if i was an American.
BUT, i fear anymore news coverage of this election would amount to complete overkill, and make everyone bored and irritated at the media praise of Obama. Which is a shame, because to coin a cliche, this really is a momentous occasion. I just believe that the media (papers, Internet, television) have had these reports stacked away for when Obama wins. For example, I’ve just watched Trevor McDonald on News at Ten talk to various black people throughout the US about their experiences of racism and segregation throughout the years. A news report he obviously did, or had planned, days earlier. Newscasters and Journalists are so keen to report on this ‘day in history’ that they’re overdoing it.
Of course, i don’t expect the coverage of the election to abate, so the best course of action is to not watch the news for the next few days, nor buy any papers to avoid the Obama overkill!
