Lost & Found

March 14, 2009 3 comments

It’s been a while since I last wrote anything, that time has largely been taken up by watching Lost and just carrying on with the mundane.

Glad I started watching Lost, it’s another great American tv programme -save for some criminal English ‘accents’! – and it’s great now to be able to talk with all the guys at work about it!

Also in the world of telly, Easter will see three new episodes of Red Dwarf broadcast. I really have high hopes for this. It’s been 10 years since season 8, more than enough time for Doug Naylor to write some decent scripts. It’s also been great to hear Robert Llewellyn’s views of how it’s all going via Twitter. He’s posted various pics of himself dressed up like Kryten, and also given us an insight into the filming.

Poor Robert though, he made an honest remark last night on Twitter, regarding Comic Relief’s use of celebrities to guilt you into donating, and the poor fella had a never ending stream of ‘twits’ who had got the wrong end of the stick, thinking he was against Comic Relief altogether. Problem with Twitter is the original posts often get lost in the subsequent postings, so for somebody like Mr Bobby Llew, it can often lead to incidents like last night! I’m sure he’ll be a bit more careful in future… ;)

Wossy: The Fake Twitter Celeb Investigator

January 9, 2009 Leave a comment

Twitter is the underground hit at the moment. It’s the website that all the cool kids visit, and i’m glad to report that i’ve been signed up to it for the past month or so. Partly due to a few celebs having also signed up too.

The great thing about Twitter is, is that it’s like Facebook but without all the bloody zombie/pirate bollocks. It’s all about the status updates. Not so great when it’s just down to you and your mates, but reading how Robert Llewellyn and Stephen Fry go on about their lives is oddly interesting. Stephen is well into his tech, and ‘Bobby’ is just an interesting bloke as it is.

Recently, a guy claiming to be Jonathon Ross signed up. On the internet, anyone can claim to be anyone else, so it could’ve been him or maybe not. Stephen Fry and Robert Llewellyn had both verified that it was indeed them ‘twittering’ as they’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but Wossy hadn’t.

The past week or so has seen quite a few ‘celebs’ signing up. Jeremy Clarkson, Jack Dee and Harry Enfield were all apparently on Twitter. But doubts were starting to be raised, and in midst of this not-so-clever fakery, was Wossy who he says he is?

Keen to put everyone’s mind at rest, Wossy posted a picture or two of himself in front of his computer screen, with Twitter on in the background. Conclusive proof then!

What with this being the actual Mr Ross, and with him having plenty of media connections, friends and whatnot, he set about investigating the fake celebs on Twitter. Finding out that Clarkson, Jack Dee and a few others were all fakers. Bobby Llewellyn also managed to uncover the fake Harry Enfield too.

In these times of Daily Mail hatred of anything Jonathon Ross related, predictably newspaper interest has gathered of his twittering, which has made the paper ‘outraged!’, but such is the interest in him even the Metro newspaper got in on the act and reported on his Fake Twitter Celeb Investigating!

Word got out the other day that on his first show back, he has Stephen Fry as a guest. I’d be very surprised if Twitter isn’t mentioned. Or indeed if they don’t twitter while on air! But reading how this ‘shamed tv host’ gets on with the most mundane of lifes tasks is weirdly addictive….!

Away from Twitter is the news that soon-to-be President Obama is featured in the new Spiderman comic, apparently a fan of Spidey, he appears in a new strip set at his inauguration in a few weeks. How cool is that?
