Aprendizaje de español!
I’ve always been envious of people who can fluently speak another language. The way that French is taught in school does not endear you to the language, so my desire to learn it went away – as did any hope of learning Spanish.
Spanish is a phonetic language. Basically how you see it written down is how it’s said, not even English Language can say that! That alone means it’s one of the easier languages to learn, and that’s what I’m doing. Starting with an evening course at Castle College in Nottingham, I hope to finally be able to speak another language – not fluently, that comes with years of practice – but to be able to go to Spain and converse with people is the aim.
The desire to learn a language came out of nowhere. I saw a TV programme about Australian lifeguards who were having communication trouble with a guy from Chile. In steps this guy who speaks away to him in Spanish. It made me think there and then how great it would be to be confident enough to talk the lingo.
I’ve bought a book called “15 Minute Spanish”, which aims to teach you Spanish in 15 minute daily lessons. I’m already about four pages in and I now know Spanish numbers, family members and various greetings – it’s coming along nicely!
